As you may already be aware the TDE spring fundraiser has recently
started. If you enjoy using TDE and possibly can't live without it, we'd
appreciate your financial assistance in keeping this unique project online
and moving forward.
If we reach our goal before April 30, I will release a theme engine that
allows Qt4 applications to blend in with TDE, all the way down to the file
open/save dialogs and icons.
Please visit http://trinitydesktop.org/newsentry.php?entry=2012.03.21 for
more information on how to donate to the project and details on the theme
engine.
TDE needs your support; donate today to help keep the project alive!

The TDE mirror system is now officially back online at full speed! All
TDE files that were on the original mirror system are now available for
download.
We will also continue to add new mirror sites in the future, increasing
the reliability of the overall system. The TDE project thanks those who
stepped forward to provide us with the new mirrors.
Once again, thank you for your patience while this issue was sorted out,
and enjoy!

Many of you are anxious to know when the TDE mirror system will be back
online. The answer is that, if all goes well, full high-speed access will
be restored in approximately 10 days. Due to the recent donations, for
which the TDE development team is grateful, I was able to ship a hard disk
with the entire TDE archive contents to our new primary mirror. That
mirror maintainer will then upload the entire archive to his mirror,
restoring high speed access.
In the meantime I have allowed direct public access to the TDE archive
server. This server is bandwidth limited as you are probably aware, and I
ask that users refrain from downloading large files (such as the source
tarballs) until the mirror system is back online. Extremely slow download
speeds are normal with this server due to loading on the limited bandwidth
connection, but it should help those users who just need a few files until
the mirror system is brought back online.
Once again the TDE project thanks you for your patience while we resolve
the remaining issues caused by the unexpected third-party mirror failure
late last December.

The TDE project is proud to announce the completion of its SVN to GIT
migration project!
See http://trinitydesktop.org/newsentry.php?entry=2012.01.01 for full
details.
Developers, please request GIT accounts at this time. Any account
requests made before the GIT repository opened are NOT being honored for
logistical reasons.
Let's make 2012 a great year for TDE!

I was just informed that the primary Trinity mirror server at
http://mirror.its.uidaho.edu has been taken offline permanently. As a
result, most TDE binary files and source tarballs are currently
unavailable for public access, as the secondary mirror seems to be set up
to point to the (offline) primary as of 12/20/2011. All files are intact
locally; this is a temporary mirroring failure ONLY.
I am working with the remaining mirror maintainers to resolve this issue.
Once the mirroring system is back online, any problems encountered should
be reported immediately to the trinity-devel mailing list.
The Trinity project would like to thank the maintainer of the defunct
uidaho.edu server, Dave Lien, for providing our primary mirror for the
past couple of years. This mirror server was the fastest and most
reliable of the entire system.
This event leaves the Trinity project in need of several new mirror sites
to ensure reliable operation. If you have an unlimited, fast connection
and want to provide a mirror for TDE, please contact Timothy Pearson at
kb9vqf(a)pearsoncomputing.net You will need to be able to schedule an rsync
pull via cron on a 24 hour interval to be able to provide a mirror.
Thank you for your understanding while I sort out the remaining issues!

As you are probably aware the Trinity website went dark for a sizable
chunk of November 2, 2011. This was due to one of our Internet service
provider's fiber optic lines being cut, and all Trinity services have now
been restored.
However, this event has delayed the publishing of the Trinity 3.5.13
binary packages for all supported distributions. While the complete
3.5.13 source tree is currently available for download, binary packages
will not be available for download until Friday, November 4, 2011 at the
earliest.
The Trinity Desktop Project apologizes for the inconvenience, and hopes
that you will enjoy our latest release in a couple days.

Trinity Desktop Environment version 3.5.13 has been released! This version
provides significant enhancements to areas such as desktop security, GTK
application support, and general usability.
You will find a detailed list of upgrades and improvements to the Trinity
system here:
http://www.trinitydesktop.org/wiki/bin/view/Documentation/Releases_3_5_13
Installation instructions for Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora, RedHat, and
Slackware are available on the Trinity project home page:
http://www.trinitydesktop.org/
If you would like to compile Trinity from source instead of using the
prebuilt binaries, instructions are available here:
http://www.trinitydesktop.org/wiki/bin/view/Developers/HowToBuild
And the source itself can be downloaded from the main project Website at:
http://www.trinitydesktop.org/
Simply click on the 3.5.13 link on the lower left hand side of the screen.
Why upgrade from KDE3.5.10, the latest release available from KDE e.V.?
Simply put, Trinity is faster, more secure, and far more feature rich than
3.5.10 ever was! It incorporates the latest patches from multiple KDE
enhancement projects, such as OpenSUSE, Chakra, and Ubuntu.
If you do find a bug, please don't hesitate to report it to the project
bugtracker at

If you would like to connect with other Trinity users and/or developers,
or simply want to be informed of the latest updates to the Trinity system,
the official project mailing lists are available here:

NOTE: Binary packages are currently being uploaded to the worldwide mirror
system. Sources are already available, however the binaries may take a
day or two to become available to all mirrors.
The Trinity Desktop Environment source code is now in a final freeze for
v3.5.13. This means that NO ALTERATIONS of any type will be accepted.
Source tarballs are in the process of being built.
Distribution packagers, now is the time to get your final binary packages
built for release. If you encounter any build failures on your
distribution you will need to patch around them via your build scripts.
As a reminder, the official 3.5.13 release will occur on November 1st,
2011. Official binary packages for Debian Squeeze, as well as Ubuntu
Lucid through Oneiric will be available at that time. No Ubuntu LiveCD
respins will be available on the release date, and LibreOffice packages
for Oneiric are pending upstream patch acceptance into the LibreOffice
project.
Tim
Hello,
Here are some further notes regarding the 3.5.13 release. The release
is on schedule for Nov 1st (in 3 days).
Now is your last chance to send in patches for the release. After Oct
29th a hard freeze will be in effect. No changes past this point will
be made. This is to ensure that packagers have enough time to produce
packages. After that the final tarballs will be built for the release.
For the 3.5.13 release there will be no Ubuntu LiveCDs. If someone
would like to respin a LiveCD for us, we will be happy to host the
files.
Oneiric packages are built and ready to install. Please report any
problems you find.
For Oneiric installation instructions:
http://www.trinitydesktop.org/wiki/bin/view/Developers/NightlyBuilds
Lastly, LibreOffice integration will not be available in Oneiric until
the creation, submission, and incorporation of patches into the
upstream LibreOffice project.
Thank you,
Calvin Morrison
