I thought about overlay to build Trinity from svn, but not for a specific version.

ebuild to join forces; it would be relatively easy to divide up the
maintenance work between developers through sections such as core,
artwork, common applications, etc. When at least the core ebuilds are
complete I can post a link to your installation instructions on the
project home page.
This way all the work won't fall on one person's shoulders. I know what
that is like from experience. ;-)
Also, all developers are free to use the Wiki to collaborate when working
on packaging Trinity for a new distribution. Just let me know when you
have created an account there and I will grant write access to the Wiki.
