After applying the patch (and double checking it applied) i still get the same error.

find /usr/ -type f -name poppler.pc
/usr/lib/pkgconfig/poppler.pc
All paths in this file are correct.

Have you tried the patch from BUG#1295? AFAIR' I had got the same
error, before I've posted that bug...
if it still doesn't work, have you got the poppler.pc in your
PKG_CONFIG_DIR. And does it contains right paths?
