In theory, it should be similar.  MATE is too bloated & slow on these old computers I'm using.  If Mint still had an LXDE edition, I'd add TDE to that.  Since that no longer exists, I'll add TDE to Mint XFCE.  A Mint TDE live DVD would be better, but creating & maintaining that is beyond my skill level.  Thanks everybody for your advice.

That works well.  If you once like Mint!!!  Well, I did it after Mint and
MATE.  But I don't suppose that it is very different.
