I run Devuan and have alsa only - no pipewire or pulseaudio - on all my systems and I have perfectly working sound. On a RPi I had pulseaudio for alsa over bluetooth - pipewire never worked there.

I've never tried it on Devuan. I'm the one who does the Trinity respib on PCLinuxOS and had sound as long as you didn't fully update to PW from PA, however some tried and lost sound. So I found the solution, noted below.
