Hi,
We use conky to have some informations displayed on the desktop. With conky, you can display any results of a command.

Not sure to have understood well, but if you need monitoring applets
here are some of them :
Kima
System-monitor in the kicker-applets package
Kcpuload
As Kommander isn't working anymore in new 3.5.13, I won't recommand it
but it should have also been a solution to do your own little window
with information.
