Make an image with macrium so you can restore it if you have to return it.

I would be surprised if supplier knew it. He probably knows that it is
Windows certified :)

I usually go through the list of hardware (chipset and related) and see if
it is well supported in the kernel.

The other thing I usually do is look for linux + model + problems, so I get
something like this:
