You got me I only skimmed the thread try this I am going to try and attach a picture see if it comes through.
On a KDE box I have I had to add a KDE package first as system language didn't affect them like you said but once I installed the Russian KDE package this does. "KDE_LANG=ru kwrite" You may need to tweak it to work with Trinity.

Thanks, John. I guess you haven't read the whole thread. This has been suggested
before and the foundings are that that sadly works only with non-TDE programs.
