When a discussion is on list for everyone to see then it appropriate to either take part on list or to not take part at all. Contacting someone privately to have a go at them, to twist what they said, or to complain about others, is not in any way shape or form appropriate.

If politics and factual error deserve any reply at all that
reply should be off this list.  A private reply is not just
appropriate but considerate.
