I tried downloading the  *.deb file with curl. Nothing happened. It did not download. I am online to the VS /root. Here is the curl command and result:

It is strange that this statement makes no mention of downloading lists
from mirror.ppa.trinitydesktop.org, although your listing apt sources
above, seems to be right.

You can try to manually download and install the package:
http://mirror.ppa.trinitydesktop.org/trinity/trinity-r14.0.0/ubuntu/pool/main/t/trinity-apt-archive/trinity-apt-archive_14.0.4-0ubuntu16.10.0+0_all.deb

...and perform aptitude update after this.
