Good! And now, I can (finally) start Synaptic from its icon. I don't know why, but it never made its way on my system through the updates on my previous install.
One little detail that should be ruled out of tdm, at least on Ubuntu, is that on a fresh install, with the system set to use tdm right after the fresh install of TDE, is that after the login, you are stuck in front of nothing, as if no desktop environment is choosen at all.
Lisi, I was talking about TDE on Ubuntu x86 on my test machine, because the main machine is on PCLinuxOS of course :)
