As Alexandre said, it's an library update causing trouble.
I got same issues.
I solve my printer / scanner / google-earth problems by running XP in virtualbox. ( for now at least )

Alexandre, I am running ubuntu nightlies. I can say only one thing......WOW .
What a difference.
If I sit on my knees, beg, cry and pray for your soul every day.....will we get a beta release of PCLinuxOS Trinity ?
No ?  I thought so.

It's sad to say but as of now, I think that backing up your home folder and reinstalling the remaster as-is, without updating it until the new one will be out is probably the thing to do, if, of course, you don't need apps that are not included as a default on the remaster. Thinking about it, users of of other platforms like Win. are used to use much more outdated softs than on Linux, since they have to pay for the updates.

As soon as I'll have a R14 package set for PCLinuxOS, I will start to work on my new remaster and it will not be very long for me to produce it!
