Good thing Michele is on the ball....
Not having seen what was there other than the description, it seems that MediaWiki may have been pwned and someone may have added a bit of mischief.
15 years or so ago, my office MediaWiki suffered a similar fate when one of the early PHP bugs was exploited. The miscreants had quite a bit of fun creating several hundred accounts all sorts of strange pages (thankfully harmless), but they did put the mail server to use from the wiki. Thankfully the wiki contents were not client related and contained nothing more than office procedures, howtos, and manuals for the telephone system, faxes and copiers etc...
Solution was to wipe the current install, update to the latest version and roll the original MySQL/MariaDB tables back in from backup.
I don't have a public facing MediaWiki any more, but that was one application that took vigilance to following reported issues and ensure the system was updated each time upstream put out a new release.
Chuckling.... seems times haven't changed that much, even the dialect is similar :)
"... This way people will be more thinking about you and this likewise helps to increase the action by several times. ..." Enriqueta91E
Google Drives list an "Enriqueta, f, E-1991'92", couldn't be...
Good eyes Darrell!
