we need to patch it to install at
kmenu/Utilities/Editors
Who is going to use an XML editor? Mom and pop? Never. I prefer placing the new app in
Development->Web Development, next to Quanta Plus.
We should also move or duplicate
kmenu/Utilities/File/kHexEdit
in
kmenu/Utilities/Editors.
Leave khexedit at the current location: Utilities->File.
I'll fight menu duplication all the way to Hell. I've been down this road before.
When menus are populated to the point that they need to roll-over to a second or third
column to show all menu items then the menu is cluttered beyond usability. Especially true
on small screens such as laptops, netbooks, and tablets. Add KDE menu items to a Trinity
menu and the clutter begins. Even with the "[KDE]" suffix or pushing all KDE
apps into their own sub menu still creates clutter.
One of the big challenges of usability design these days is too many developers using
monitors that are bigger than televisions and then not testing on small displays. Same
problem with all the idiotic web developers who never test their damn small fonts on small
monitors. Oh, looks great on my jumbotron.
That way ALL of the editors (text, hex and xml) are
all available under
Editors.
Not all editors are "editors" as most people use the word. I doubt much that
most users have even heard of a hex editor, let alone look for one. Likewise for an XML
editor. Stop thinking like a geek.
