In KDE 3.5.10 there is a check box named "Keep password." The password is kept
for the current session only, and only for a limited period during the session. The check
box does not serve the purpose of storing the password forever or past the current
session.
As for 1., it is perfectly normal behavior that kdesu
can't
remember your password (otherwise, you would switch to root
without being asked a password).
