Possibly each respective xcf file too, but I'm
thinking
we delete the xcf files.
That would get rid of the high resolution editable/layered
source file. Don't do that! :-)
Perhaps then we need a wiki article how to maintain the xcf files, why we
do that, and how to convert to png using our own apps. We should eat our
own dog food. I dislike the idea that we need to use gtk apps to maintain
our foundations. Just does not set right or feel right. :-)

There is no TDE application that even comes close to the functionality of
the GIMP. While I do understand where you are coming from, what you
propose would be like Micro$oft shipping low quality graphics because they
refused to use Photoshop internally, instead limiting themselves to Paint.
