Tim, Michele,
I noticed in Jessie was updated dpkg to version 0.17.5. This is a problem for
the current package format in nightly-builds. See:

The question is how to solve this problem in a relationship of the approaching
release date of R14.0.0?
The structure of the version that we now use in nigthly-builds and which is
similarly used for SRU versions (here we already use ~preXXX instead of
+rXXX), allows switch to quilt format. But to make such change in the
nightly-builds at this time? Or suspend building Jessie packages for this
time? Or in Jessie images on build-farm hold the previous version of dpkg for
this time?
Note: As I mentioned in my script to prepare the source deb package I already
use quilt format, so as soon as I'll begin prepare packages for R14.0.1, the
problem with Jessie will be resolved for SRU. And it will be a better time to
edit the script for nightly-builds packages.
What are your suggestions?

Slavek,
first, let's remember that Jessie is a constantly changing release, so we do not have
any "obligation" to release R14 packages for Jessie: they may not be installable
any more after a few weeks. Nevertheless updated nightly builds for Jessie should be
available for those who want to install TDE on Jessie.
If we change now to quilt we are more likely to delay the release of R14 even further, due
to additional work and additional testing required. On the other hand it is something that
has to be done sooner or later.
IMO, if we think we can reach the point of tagging R14 within 3-4 weeks at most, we could
hold dpkg back to 1.16.12, build and release R14.0.0 and then look at moving to quilt
format.
But if we think it is going to take longer than that, then we should consider doing the
move to quilt before R14, I am not a big fan of holding back supported versions of
packages for long.
