hummingbird is also already employed by dillo as a mascot. of course for being 'light and fast'

Hi,
Some months ago, a discussion about finding a new mascot for TDE has bee going on. Recently, I bought an HP 620lx palmtop (er, Handheld PC, for non-Psion users) and I installed Jornada Linux Mobility Edition, available at jlime.com
I thought that a modified version of their logo could be interesting as a TDE mascot, but I am not sure about the legal aspect of it. Also, what is you opinion on it? I made a quick mockup of what it could be.
Have a great Christmas time!

The basic idea is OK; as you said though I'm not sure of the legal implications as the penguin is universally associated with the Linux kernel.
I don't that would be a particular problem, since there are lots of distributions using penguin variations in their logos.
Taking the bird idea further, looking at this Wikipedia image I see a couple of birds that might be appropriate but I have no idea if they are already taken: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bird#mediaviewer/File:Bird_Diversity_2013.png
Birds that imply lightweight operation and speed, such as the hummingbird or various members of the swallow family would be my first choices. In line with TDE's professional image (at least that's what I aspire for TDE to be...) something that could be used and easily recognized in businesslike vector art (e.g. for logos and such) would also be preferred.
Hummingbirds don't have much stamina, which is not a connotation I'm sure we want, but the swallows have definite possibilities. Some of them have very nice plumage, too.
I'd be kind of tempted by the Welcome Swallow just because of its name. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Welcome_swallow Not a bad-looking bird either, although it isn't as flashy as, say, the Lesser Striped Swallow.

Hi,
Personnally, I'm not sure about these kinds of birds of prey. In french, we call it ''rapace'', which has an extremely bad connotation. Is there a specific reason why it should be a bird? On kde.org, I can find the source blender file for Konqui, but I don't know much at all on how to use Blender...
