I usually test the patches before applying them. I tested this patch and found that it
breaks the system and does not introduce anything valuable instead.
I suggest you to employ a similar practice, i.e. not applying the patches without
testing.

It is quite possible that there is a problem with the
control module,
probably due to the extensive changes to kompmgr in order to stabilize
it,
but the general code and control modules remain intact from KDE 3.5.10.
OK. This control module in Trinity is non-functional and does not affect
anything.
It has been broken by the criticized patch from Chakra.
