Humans being realistic? That made me laugh! :-)
I don't mean that as an insult. Most people aren't realistic, and they ever will be. I agree with you fully that they need to be realistic, but I know that'll never happen.
No insult taken! Psychologists and socioligists have shown many times that most humans do not act rationally, despite the claims otherwise.
