Is this behavior necessary? Desired? The user's home profile directory usually is 700
permissions. Sure, if I walk away somembody could open such files but the passwords are
not clear text.

I don't know if this behaviour is intentional or not, but I suspect that it
isn't. I think that Konqueror just gets confused if the file which it is examining
contains any information which is not plain text.
