If you're interested in collecting old guides to supplement your information, the
Gentoo KDE3
configuration guide can be scrounged from the Wayback Machine:

The license is Creative Commons Attribution/Share Alike. Much of the guide is taken up
with Gentoo-specific package manager commands, but there are a few bits and pieces
that may be good for something.
