I also think a change of the default icon style might
be a good idea to consider for the next minor release (R14.1.0,
whenever it will be). We will need to test thoroughly to make sure we do not have missing
icons, as E. correctly
pointed out, but as long as we plan it right I think it is doable.

Good! I think that a good solution would be to add a page to KPersonalizer where the icon
theme could be choosen, with a nice little picture for each one. (I am ready to make
these, just ask for it) Maybe also making sure that all widget styles appear in the
KPersonalizer list too?
Do you want to try the icon theme on your TDE setup to see if if does the job for you?
You just have to uncompress the archive (as root, with a good archiver, not ark) in
/opt/trinity/share/icons
