Looks like at least you and me agree about package naming guidelines. I wrote a note for myself to post a snippet somewhere in the wiki. Now I have to spend time updating my build scripts. Ugh. :)

Yes, the tilde is used deliberately because then for Debian is version 14.0.0~pre considered as older version than 14.0.0.

Okay. I likely will modify that for Slackware. I don't want to upset the natives. :)
