Thank you so much! Looks great and exactly like I wanted. :-)
I tried
karbon, but I'm beginning to believe karbon is
user-hostile. I am able to draw
a diagonal line with
libreoffice draw, but I cannot figure out how to
draw a
line with rounded ends and found no help online.
An examination shows that Karbon has no pen tool, which
really should be added. It also has no obvious way to delete individual points from
a shape (if it did have, you could have scribbled a pencil line then deleted the
intermediate points to straighten it). These are pretty serious deficiencies for
what's supposed to
be a usable vector editing application.
Thank you for your observations. I won't pretend to have much knowledge about drawing
apps
and therefore won't pretend I have standing to complain. But basics are basics and new
users
should be able at least to draw a simple line.
Agreed. The koffice Karbon seems to have been released before it was really ready.
I tinkered some more with libreoffice draw, but still
can't draw a line with rounded ends. I
drew a rectangle with round edges. Looked nice until I realized libreoffice draw had
changed
the borders from "dashed" to solid/full all around the image. Not sure what is
up with that.
Incomplete support of the SVG standard, maybe?
Yet as a basic drawing app, I think I can learn and
adapt to libreoffice draw. Too bad karbon
can't do the basics.
One question that comes to mind with respect to Karbon is, was any of the
missing functionality added in the Calligra version? And if so, can any of it
be backported?
I'm tempted to file a Karbon mega-bug for milestone "Future" (as in, to be
tackled when/if we have enough devs that some can be spared for
nonessentials), with an interface mockup and a list of missing functionality.
