Perhaps this should be only set when the "for transparency" appearance setting for the taskbar is set, which is also when there is an outline on the fonts of the taskbar to improve legibility.

Bug 387 filed.
Was this added in Trinity 3.5.11/12? Otherwise I'm confused why this does not happen in KDE.
If this is a Trinity mod then I'll submit a bug report to add a config option to restore the original behavior.
The shadow is present to improve legibility with the transparent panel. My suggestion would be to add a separate radio button configuration option to control the shadow with options
enable/disable/auto.

The problem is caused by enabling Transparency in
the
Panel configuration:
Appearance, Panel Background, Enable
Transparency.
When Transparency is enabled, the clock font
then
displays with an
outline/shadow.
This does not happen in KDE. I can toggle
Transparency
in either mode in
KDE and the clock font remains normal.
Seems like a bug, but I'd like confirmation
before
filing a report in the
bugzilla.
Additional info:
When I enable the date and day of week, that
part
of the
clock display does not contain a shadow or
outline. Only the
time portion of the display.
I can toggle between Trinity and KDE and the
outline/shadow
appears only in Trinity.
I installed the Trinity packages on a system where KDE 3.5.10 was installed. I
was
careful
to
first manually remove the KDE packages
before
installing the
Trinity packages.
I did not delete any user KDE profiles
(~/.kde).
User accounts have the clock configured
in
the
kicker/panel
as Plain Clock (text) using the format
H:MM
a/pm. Font
style
is Regular.
With some user accounts, the clock font
seems
to use
a
shadow or outline. Yet other accounts
the
font text
looks
the same as in KDE 3.5.10 with no shadow
or
outline.
Shadowing is not enabled in the Desktop
configuration
options.
While not running Trinity, I deleted
the
clock config
file
from ~/.kde/share/config. Deleting the
file
did not
eliminate the shadow/outline.
Any ideas what might be causing this
behavior?
Thanks.
Darrell
