Hello
I want to do a little personal reflection, as a constructive criticism. As KDE 3 lover, I like TDE, but as user of a distro different of Ubuntu, I am not comfortable with the Ubuntu reminiscences dragged by TDE project. For example, the KDM defualt wellcome message ( http://bugs.trinitydesktop.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=617 ), the 'My computer' and 'Menu T > System menu' icons ( http://bugs.trinitydesktop.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=1195 ), and all problems around the use of su instead of sudo (for example http://trinity-users.pearsoncomputing.net/?0::1470 ) in the no-sudo systems (the vast majority of distributions).
IMHO I think it would have been easier and cleaner if TDE forked directly of the kde.org source code tree or from a distro compilation packages not so manipulated or customized as Kubuntu do (for example http://snapshot.debian.org/package/kdebase/4%3A3.5.10.dfsg.1-2 ) . Best regards!
