I am revising and updating the Trinity documentation. In tdebase/khelpcenter/plugins/ is a desktop file named userguide.desktop.
That file is used to create the table of contents in the Help Center.
Although minor, the file is inconsistent with terminology used everywhere else in TDE.
AS IS: Name=KDE Users' Manual
CHANGE TO: Name=TDE User Guide
Changing KDE to TDE is straightforward as well as changing the English text. The challenge is updating all of the other languages to "TDE User Guide."
If somebody wants to help with the documentation and is familiar with using various language translation tools, would you please consider updating this file?
I would be much grateful for the help. Thank you!
Darrell

One suggestion I have is to translate the string with Google Translate and then run the translation in reverse (i.e. back into English) with the same tool. If they match there is a good chance the translated string can be safely used.

Please contact me or send a note to this list if you decide to tackle this job. Possibly this job will require help from several people who are familiar with other languages. If several people get involved then likely this problem will be resolved.
Even if you know the translation only for one language, pleases send that information to me.
Thanks!

For me: Polish and Italian. I know both so I can translate.
Thanks!

Great! All we need is to translate the phrase "TDE User Guide."
I also need to know the two-letter abbreviation used to identify those languages (po and it?)

In Polish it would be: Podręcznik Użytkownika In Italian: Guida d'Utente
I suggest dropping of the "TDE" for those languages, since it sounds bad. If It is needed it should be added with a hyphen like this: pl: TDE - Podręcznik Użytkownika it: TDE - Guida d'Utente
the last option is the best one.
I also need to know the two-letter abbreviation used to identify those languages (po and it?)
pl for Polish it for Italian

--------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi All,
Tim's suggestion is good, but it is the way I use this tool, and it's not so successfull, is it ? (((-:
Ok can help for the French translation. I will have more free time next month, but I can have a look now. Just tell me where to look.
Cheers Patrick

tdebase/khelpcenter/plugins/userguide.desktop
The new text is "TDE User Guide."

--------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi Darrell
I suppose that the following will respond to your need: Name[fr]=Manuel de l'utilisateur de KDE becomes Name[fr]=Guide de l'utilisateur de TDE
After a read of a post in the devel list, I updated my system (see attached). But I still dont know how to use what I installed! Sorry, but I can not spend time this month... Maybe the best for me would be to wait for the port to OpenSuse to be ready?
Cheers Patrick
