If you are saying that you have /usr/etc on your system
I think something has gone wrong with your build script.
I don't have a /usr/etc directory on mine.

Nothing wrong with the build script.
If your installing into /opt/trinity and /opt qt you have /opt/qt/etc
and /opt/trinity/etc or something like that.
With autotools you would set some thing like to build the directories
into /etc -sysconfdir /etc/qt \
I am looking for the cmake equivilent.
My build scripts are default/recommenended cmake scripts.
