All my testing here indicates bibletime does not function any more due to some rendering issues. the project has a mature, non KDE upstream project that continues to maintain and improve the project independently for 15 years. I think we should discontinue supporting KDE3 bibletime and let people use the upstream one.
I am inclined to agree, but could the same be said about several TDE packages? Such as kmymoney, tellico, digikam, krusader, dolphin, koffice (calligra), chalk (krita)....
I would not surprised if some packages such as bibletime, which I never have used, are getting crusty.
Anyway, for now all I am trying to accomplish is getting all 179 packages to compile on Slackware. :)

Yes, exactly. Briefly, this could actually be said about the whole TDE and most applications. And that's probably not the thing we want. I assume that there are more users who have it like me - that I prefer TDE, so I prefer TDE applications in the same way before their original upstream versions, which both would cause the installation of many unwanted dependencies and looked different from the rest of my desktop.

Some applications can be doubted whether they can work at all. For example, kldcdimmer requires a smartdimmer binary and I have no idea if any current distribution provides this binary. Maybe it allows to use another binary - maybe xbacklight, I don't know, I've never tried it. When I needed to set the display backlight, it was on a laptop, I use tdepowersave. Perhaps it could be interesting to have some overview of which applications are real use.
Anyway, for now all I am trying to accomplish is getting all 179 packages to compile on Slackware.
BTW, do you use Slackware Builds from Ray-V as a basis or is it a separate effort? This would look a bit impractical for three Slackware users I know to use three different ways of building - Ray-V, Simone Giustetti and you.

Separate effort. The other two people have limited and unorthodox build environments. My goal is to provide a full traditional build environment supporting all 179 packages and written in the spirit of stock Slackware and SBo build scripts. After most of the issues are resolved I want to post the scripts and let others decide what they want to do.
I am hoping somebody with the time, skills, and dedication will add the script environment to the TDE packaging system to allow Slackers to download binary packages -- I'm a bit weary of Slackware always being a bastard child within the TDE community. :)
