Is sip4-tqt a full package to replace the distro package or a layer package like tdegraphics poppler-tqt?
Is libarts-gpl a full package to replace the distro package or a layer package?
Where is tqca? Has that package been combined with tqca-tls?
When is tqscintilla required?

sip4-tqt replaces sip4-qt3 at the moment.

libarts-gpl should replace the distribution package.

tqca is part of tqt3 IIRC.
When is tqscintilla required?
When building the Python bindings.

I think you are speaking Debianese. :) In Slackware there is no sp4-qt3. There is only sip. Does that mean sip4-tqt replaces the distro sip package or does sip4-tqt only provide the qt3 layer to sip like poppler-tqt?

sip4-tqt conflicts with the existing sip files, but is needed to build the TDE python bindings. Does that make sense?

If you mean build sip4-tqt and install in addition to the distro's sip package, yes.
If you mean replace the existing sip package then maybe no. The current version of sip installed with Slackware supports qt4 but not qt3. I suspect most distros are that way now.
I presume that installing sip4-tqt alongside the existing sip will overwrite some of the existing sip files?
Darrell
Yes. Given that sip is only used for building making it coexist with Qt4's sip is not a priority.
Only for building? Then do not include sip4-tqt in our package releases?
Honestly I'm not 100% sure. I am not a Python programmer and do not pretend to be one. ;-)
