root can see the sound system the user can't.
Check permissions....
Running 'alsactl init' might be enough to restore the permissions.

AAAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!
Started TDE this morning and sound started WORKING, but I have no idea what in all the steps I took yesterday caused it to initialize this morning -- God, I hate it when that happens.............
Best guess was adding user to audio -- but that is not recommended....
