Let me be clear,
Gwenview will start after the message is canceled, and the libgvimagepart viewer in konqueror will display the image, so this looks like a path or .so/.la problem that is generating the error. I can launch gwenview from the menu without error, so this is limited to the kpart viewer aspect of gwenview.
Hi David, Not sure how this can help you, but on Debian/testing gwenview works without any issue. Cheers Michele

Did you try in konqueror - click on a .png file such that konqueror auto-launches libgvimagepart. That is where I see the error. It is repeatable every time. (click on the filename for the .png)

If you don't see the error, it's just another bewildering (why me?) error :)
In Konqueror, I rightclick a .png file and select open with Gwenview. No problems. Does this happens on any .png file or only on specific ones? For example in bug 1053 we saw that gwenview crashes when opening a specific (probably badly formatted) svg file. If it crashes on a specific .png, could you send it to me so I can try as well?

Oh -- I'm (left clicking) on the file so it actually opens the .png in konqueror preview... See:

I can right-click -> Open -> Gwenview without any problem. Try the left-click.
