Hi,
Here is a new splash for digiKam. For those who know one of the most famous CAD Win program, you might see some similarities. I provided the old one for comparison.
Tell me what you think! Thank you! -Alexandre

Yes? No? Maybe?
Comments are welcome!

Sorry Alex, actually I replied yesterday but I guess my mail got lost...
In my opinion the new splash is a little "too full" of metal. Maybe zooming out a little and include more sky and water would be more pleasant. Other opinions are welcome as usual.
Cheers Michele

It probably got lost in the post office :) I always feel like a mailing list is not too reliable...

Do you prefer it this way? I can also change very easily the picture for another one, if needed.
Thank you! -Alexandre

Yes, definitely better IMO. If the original image you started from is free to use, then I can push to GIT. Please let me know.

Better, but still looks gloomy.

Then perhaps we should consider a different subject? Alex, any alternative idea?

Yes, here are some other choices, all with pictures coming from kde-look.org, except for the autumn one, which is from my digital camera.

Beautiful! My favorite is v7. Second place v8.

Wow, great work Alex! v6, v7 and v8 all look great (no specific preference for me). Should we go for v7 then?
Cheers Michele

Yes, v7 should be a good choice.

Hi Alex, I looked at this with the idea of pushing v7 as we discussed. I found out that in the Digikam source files there are two files: one is a png picture and another one is an xcf picture. They are called digikam-splash.png and digikam-splash.xcf respectively. Could you provide a .xcf version as well for v7.png? Even though I believe only the .png is required, I would like to keep both files aligned.
Cheers Michele

Hi,
Okay, here is the gimp ''source'' file for the picture. It is not needed for digiKam to work, but it's always better to have it.
