Everything built without incident, yet no plugins in either app.
David, have you built kipi-plugins? Would you check your digikam and gwenview? In digikam you'll see a fully populated Export menu and in gwenview a fully populated Plugins menu.
Also, when starting digikam for the first time, such as in a new profile (or deleting all profile config files), digikam gets stuck trying to create the database, complaining of file permissions. I'm willing to overlook that at the moment because all of the above could be related to libkipi or kipi-plugins building incorrectly.

Hmm...
I have a couple of questions, that might be issues. (1) I have both kipi and libkipi installed:
22:39 valkyrie:~/Documents/bld/atwcs> pmq | grep kipi tde-kipi-plugins 3513_tqt-2 tde-libkipi 3513_tqt-2
When I look at the plugins->effects menu in gwenview - it's empty. I haven't built digikam yet, still have patching for libpng15 to do. But, (2) when I open an xterm in TDE, I get black text on black background?? That is strange. Look at this screenshot which I've tried to catch a number of these issues in:
http://www.3111skyline.com/dl/dt/trinity/ss/gwenview1.jpg
Are there plugins I should be seeing in there? I've checked kde3 on suse and I don't have plugins there either.
Let me know if I didn't catch what you needed and I'll check again.

I don't know about the xterm issues. I recall once while updating packages that my konsole turned to a white background (I use black). I just tried an xterm in Trinity and got the standard white background.
I don't have anything in my KDE3 gwenview Plugins/Effects menu either. I don't think anything has ever been in that one menu item, but I'm not a graphics junkie to know. The remainder of the gwenview Plugins meny is populated in KDE3 and empty in Trinity.
The reason is digikam and gwenview both are broken with respect to kipi-plugins. In the Settings options for both there are no kipi-plugins items available. The challenge now is to discover why.
In digikam I found a number of inadvertent TQt changes. I'm amazed the package built at all. I am working on cleaning that and rebuilding. My Trinity kipi-plugins package looks much the same as my KDE3 package so I'm unsure whether the problem is kipi-plugins.

Darrell,
I check the suse kde 3.5.10 gwenview and their is nothing in the 'Effects' menu either. I think those are 3rd party addons, but that is just a guess based on looking at the 3.5.10 -> 3.5.14-dev gwenviews. I don't recall anything being there before, but I'm not a graphics junkie either...
