All, in bug 2015 (http://bugs.pearsoncomputing.net/show_bug.cgi?id=2015) Darrell has pointed out several pictures that need rebranding from K to T. Any one volunteering for doing it in his/her spare time? Those rebranding would go into v14.0.0 if we can get the new pictures ready in time.
Cheers Michele

Ugh, that's a *lot* of files. I can try to tackle them if no one else does, but it's going to take a while.

Nicer would be a mini how-to to edit svg(z) files. Even nicer if we eat our own dog food by using Trinity apps. The only Trinity vector graphics app I am aware (for editing, not viewing) is karbon14. I do not know what the results will be like. I'm just not a graphics person and really don't know where to start without a how-to.
I am not convinced every single image instance of a K has to be converted to a T. Possibly just deleting the K will be sufficient for all but a few of the images. Yet even to do that I am ignorant of the basics without instructions.

Does it really worth it to take all that time to rework all of these pictures, for an icon theme that is probably not used at all, or next to not used? For me, even Crystal SVG is badly outdated. TDE does not even use the latest version of it, being stuck in 2005. Plus, then they'll need to be converted to png, for 16, 24, 32, 48, 64, 128 pixels sizes.
Only my opinion on it!

karbon14 is missing basic tools for any reasonable vector manipulation. You need Inkscape.

The problem is that this isn't the sort of thing that lends itself to simple instructions, and in most cases a deletion won't work very well. I just pulled four of the icons at random, and it looks like three of them need a logo transplant and one needs a replacement "k"--except that I don't think the font used matches anything I have, so I'm going to have to take a standard sans font and mess around with it. Deletion is not a good idea for any of them--this is already a very minimalist icon set.
I might be able to lay out instructions for how to perform a logo transplant on this particular set of icons once I have the time to create a simplified monochrome copy of the current logo, but it won't generalize very well--the first step is always "tweak the logo you're going to transplant in until it looks right".

There's a mass-export tool for the PNGs, once we have the SVG. That isn't a problem.

I agree with the general sentiment. Does anybody use the mono icon set? I have no idea. If nobody does then perhaps deleting the icon set is easier.

I like crystalsvg --- there is familiarity and comfort with using established (older) icon sets. I wish we had all of the original crystalsvg images in svg format. That would make maintenance much easier.
I would like to see new icon sets added to Trinity, but that would be a huge undertaking.

Do you mean ksvgtopng or inkscape?

Yeah, all of those here who are still using their 12 inch IBM CRT monitors are still using the mono icon theme :) Maybe keeping it just like that is another simple option, without hurting the heart of those who still use this kind mono monitor.

KFaenza (as I use on my remaster), the updated Crystal SVG theme and (please don't throw a brick on the side of my head) Oxygen are available and ready-to-use.

Each time I start Konqueror, I see as the background image of it a big K logo. If someone can give me the path to this file, I can rework it to a T.

E., Darrell, Alex, thanks for your feedback. As Alex pointed out, there are people still using those icons, so we can't just delete them. The easy option is to leave the icons as they are: people have been using them until today without complains, so I reckon they would keep using them in the future without complains. Anyhow given the big rename effort done so far (and which will extend even after v14.0.0 is out of the door), a better option is to rebrand them as pointed out by Darrell in the bug report. There are a lot of images, but we do not need to rush and tackle all of them at once. Please work through them at a pace that fits your schedule. Based on the current status of the bug list, v14.0.0 is not going to reach RC1 soon (probably by end of June or later I think) so there is plenty of time. What is ready by RC1 will go into v14.0.0 and what is not ready, will simply go to the following maintenance releases.
Thanks for your help, it is always appreciated. Cheers Michele

Update: I'll be attaching the amended icons to the bug in Buzilla as I go, to avoid spamming this list, so anyone else wishing to pitch in should check there first.
