I also recently fixed a very old KDE bug in GIT hash cf9a9af6; it's amazing how long people will put up with a significant inconvenience because it only appears sporadically!

Great! A few days ago I watching to this commit, and wondered whether backport it also into v3.5.13-sru branch :)

Yes, backporting it would be a good idea. With the patch, desktop icons actually stay where the user puts them across logout/login, something Microsoft has done correctly since at least Windows 95. ;-)
