I'm using the latest GIT.
I haven't done any deep digging but there is no doubt that Konqueror is opening much slower than I am accustomed. Any request to open Konqueror takes two or more seconds. This is a dual core system with 8GB RAM and SATA II disks.
I have not seen this problem before. Only recently.
I have an instance preloaded and always have had that option enabled, but what I see indicates this is not happening. Could there have been a patch in the past few weeks that is affecting preloading?
I checked Konqueror in a virtual machine using a GIT package set that hasn't been updated in a couple of months. There, Konqueror opened right away, thereby confirming my observations in my normal system.
A fresh profile makes no difference.
Anybody else noticing this?

In order to help improve TDE, I want to tell my experiences with TDE starting
from a clean install of Debian Squeeze minimal (within X) from the viewpoint
of a Spanish desktop user. The problems, pitfalls or things I've found are
improving (I report all as bugs in the bug tracker to be systematic):
1. Trinity Webpage could be translated into several languages without much problem,
I think there are collaborators with enough time and desire to make it viable.
A call to collaborators through the mailing list to create working groups could
be. I offer to help as Spanish-spoken.

2. Debian installation intructions improvements:
* Refers to "sudo", but Debian as a "su" distro by default, like most distros.
If you're a newbie and follow to the letter the instructions, the lines with
"sudo" not work
* Lack reference to the translation packages, example "For Spanish translate,
apt-get install kde-trinity-i18n-es"
* For laptops, kpowersave-trinity is essential, it shoul be indicate in the
intructions as "if you have a laptop..." or similar.
* A graphical network manager as network-manager-kde-trinity is very util, it
shoul be indicate in the intructions as "if you want to have a graphical network
manager and you are not using a other as wicd, you..." or similar. May notice
about network-manager versions incompatible with network-manager-kde-trinity.

3. Applications of interest:

6. KDM problems:
* KDM don't draw well the background, artifacts can be seen. I think I solved
it with KControl > System admin > Login manager > Apparance > Compositor: Trinity
compositor. If choosing Trinity Compositor solve the problem, the package
should be reconfigured to do it by default.

* "Finish actual session" in "End session" window dialog don't work, just a
black screen appears instead of KDM. Doing Ctrl-Alt-F1 & Ctrl-Alt-F6, the KDM
window is visible very briefly. I read something similar, related with graphic
card (this is a Nvidia, and use the nouveau driver), I don't know. Related:
In Exe GNU/Linux, a Debian live CD distro with TDE as desktop environment:
* In a live session, if you choose "Change session" in the TDE exit dialog,
you find a KDM login window answer you about user name and password - could be
auto-restart

7. Sudo problems: In a recent mail ( "Clean TDE of Kubuntu references",

problems derivated of the Ubuntu reminiscences dragged by TDE project, as
sudo-dependence of TDE nonexistent in the KDE 3.5 original. A set of new
sudo-related bugs:
* Konsole as SuperUser: T > System > SuperUser > Konsole: a Konsole window
appears ask for "[sudo] password for [user]" - it is a Debian (no-sudo) system,
therefore neither user password (user is not in /etc/sudoers) neither root
password (demand sudo) work. Konqueror as root in the "T > System > SuperUser"
dialog works well.

* In T > System, other applications as KPackage open, but for a action ask for

Regarding the patches in commits d50125d0 and bbd076f4 from 2012-08-13 to control whether the underscore mnemonics are visible in the menu bar.
I tested this option and saw no difference. The underscores are always visible.
Restarting Trinity has no effect.
The underlying kstylerc config file is being updated.
Does (T)Qt3 need to be built with a special config option to enable that function?

I use kde profile in order to manage menu, wallpaper ... and i would like
tu use the env folder.
If i create : $HOME/.trinirty/env/locale.sh, it works but not in the kde
profile.
I have found in the startkde where $HOME/.trinity/env, /opt/trinity/env
where used but not my profile folder.

With a fresh build set from Saturday Nov. 10, I am unable to start the KDED TDE Internet Daemon. I receive a dialog "Unable to start service."
Anybody able to confirm this bug?

I built a new package set based upon GIT short version 8565 from yesterday (Saturday Nov. 10).
The menu item highlighting seems fixed both in Trinity and non Trinity apps.
The broken Alt key seems fixed in Trinity apps but not in non Trinity apps, or at least not in Firefox. That is, sequentially pressing Alt, F does not open the File menu. I need to concurrently press Alt+F in Firefox. Sequential pressing of Alt, F works in Trinity apps.
I don't know where the problem might be to help debug.

I recently pushed a new (alpha quality) backend for the media:/ kioslave
which uses udev/pmount and therefore does not rely on HAL. I encourage
developers here to try it out!
Please report failures to this list, not to the bugtracker, as it has not
been tested much beyond mounting simple flash drives. Encryption support
is buggy, but repairing it is my next task.
Rhis will NOT be made default for R14.0 due to the vast array of hardware
that it still needs to be tested on, but if your distribution no longer
works with HAL it may be better than nothing even in this alpha form.
To enable it, pass the -DWITH_TDEHWLIB="on" option to tdebase CMake.
