When opening a message in KMail, there is a gray rectangle area above the message containing the basic To/From/Subject information.
In Trinity there is a blue box at the right side of the gray area. The blue box uses a gradient background and contains the current time of the person who sent the message.
There is a related configuration option in Appearance, Message Window, named "Show current sender time."
How is the current sender's time being determined? Is this a local calculation or is KMail fetching data from somewhere online before calculating and displaying the time?

I installed the Trinity packages on a system where KDE 3.5.10 was installed. I was careful to first manually remove the KDE packages before installing the Trinity packages.
I did not delete any user KDE profiles (~/.kde).
User accounts have the clock configured in the kicker/panel as Plain Clock (text) using the format H:MM a/pm. Font style is Regular.
With some user accounts, the clock font seems to use a shadow or outline. Yet other accounts the font text looks the same as in KDE 3.5.10 with no shadow or outline.
Shadowing is not enabled in the Desktop configuration options.
While not running Trinity, I deleted the clock config file from ~/.kde/share/config. Deleting the file did not eliminate the shadow/outline.
Any ideas what might be causing this behavior?

Hi! Is it possible to return some behavior of KDE 3.1 and KDE 2?
My impression that some things became much worser with later versions of KDE.
Namely,
- They removed the 3D appearance of Kicker. First from KDE 3.2 they removed
the frame around the taskbar buttons and make the buttons larger (I would
say, too large). Next, from some later release they removed 3D appearance
from taskbar buttons, so they are not pushed like other buttons any more,
only the bold font shows which application is currently selected.
- Is it possible to make an option to remove the thick separators from the K
menu, like it was in KDE 3.1?
- In KDE2 when you press K button and then launch another application, the
menu does not disappear, this makes easy making screenshots
- In KDE2 when you hover over the quick launch items, the icons are enlarged.
- In KDE2 when you press "minimize all windows" button and then klick on a
folder on desktop, only that folder opens in a window. In KDE 3.5 all windows
restored.
- In KDE2 the frames around names of items on the desktop are dotted like in
Windows and shown reliably: do not twinkle when you press mouse on another
place on the desktop and always shown completely. In KDE3 they twinkle and
sometimes shown only by half. The names of items in KDE2 shown exactly in the
center relative to icon while in KDE 3.5 the names often shifted from the
middle.
- The K menu in KDE 3.5.10 is often shifted when displayed first time after
reboot or changing settings. This depends on the icon theme used: all OK with
Crystalsvg but problems with Slick, KDE Classic and others
- I would also want see more exciting icon themes and Qt styles which one can
see on the old 200-2005 screenshots.
How is Trinity installed in Kubuntu to allow running Trinity or KDE4?
Slackware uses two primary run levels: 3 and 4.
Run level 3 uses a command line login and starts X and KDE 3.5.10 from the command line, through /usr/bin/startx, /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc.kde, and /usr/bin/startkde.
Run level 4 starts X through /usr/bin/kdm and that is where users login and run /usr/bin/startkde.
Building Trinity to install in /opt is no problem, but running either Trinity or KDE 3.5.10 from the same system in run level 4 is not so straightforward.
For run level 3, all I need do is create a new xinitrc file named xinitrc.trinity. I can make that the system default or let each user account make that the default. Easy enough.
Run level 4 seems a tad more complicated. I can add the Trinity version of kdm (opt/trinity/bin/kdm) to the system rc.d/rc.4 script. I can add a second Xsession script for the Trinity version of kdm to ensure the Trinity version of Xsession is used. But at that point users wanting to run or test both Trinity and KDE 3 5.10 on the same system seem stuck using either the KDE kdm or the Trinity kdm. There does not seem a nice way to toggle the system unless I modify the rc.4 script to ask the user which kdm to use.
A login manager should be desktop environment-neutral. I'll guess there is no damage in using either version of kdm to launch either Trinity or KDE 3.5.10. Yet perhaps there might be problems because of the libraries loaded into memory.
I'll guess that Kubuntu avoids the problem because the default login manager is gdm. The stock Slackware does not come with gdm or gnome. Then again, possibly Kubuntu uses the KDE4 kdm as the default login manager and that avoids library conflicts too.
I hope I'm missing something obvious and simple. :)

I was testing Trinity on a system. When I ran KMail I received messages about the indexes. I don't remember the exact message. Something about the index being outdated.
On this same test system, after I had uninstalled Trinity and reinstalled KDE 3.5.10, I received similar messages. I again had to let KMail rebuild the indexes.
No harm seems to have occurred in either direction.
What changed in Trinity to cause this?
Any user wanting to use both desktops will have to endure these messages.

There are check box options to toggle the activation effect of icons for the desktop and the panel.
Is there a similar option for the icons in the Konqueror file list window? That is, when double-clicking on a file in the file window, the icon does not blink/flash as a visual feedback mechanism?
I thought we had addressed that issue, but I find no discussion in the list archives.

Don't you plan to include Valknut DC++ client in Trinity? I've just added it
in OpenSUSE KDE:KDE3 and it works excellent (though one should use the most
recent dclib from their SVN, it was last modified less than 2 months ago).
