How to clone with submodules from TDE git mirror?

With the main git repo often down I decided to try to clone the mirror instead. I used: GIT_ASKPASS=echo git clone --recursive \ https://anonymous@mirror.git.trinitydesktop.org/gitea/TDE/tde However while it identifies all the submodules from the mirror it tries to fetch the submodules from the main repo and fails (see below). Can anyone tell me the correct magic incantation?
