Darrell, It just snapped to me as I was following the conversation through a nicely threaded discussion - Darrell has a new mailer! I see it is kmail and it is working great. Thanks for the switch. I'm sure you are viewing the messages threaded, if not look under the 'Folder' menu and there is an option for Message Threading that will show all messages threaded by conversation on your end.
