This is not a bad idea at all, if
it is feasable :-)
Tim, I am no expert in this, but what about crowd funding (for example
Kickstarter
or similar)? Have you thought about it?

Exactly! What we need is a bigger crowd! Also, are there any open-source
development type grants that could be applied for or utilized in some way?
Lets keep the ideas going!
