I am just not geek enough to figure this out:
In the folder pane, when I "right-click" on the mail list folder name, and
select "New Message to Mailing-List...," the new composer window populates
the Identity and To text boxes but does not include my signature in the text
window.
Conversely, when I select the mail list in the folder pane and then select
the New Message toolbar icon or the same from the File menu, the compose
window includes my signature from my template but fails to populate the To
text box.
I want the text boxes populated for the mail list and the text window to
already include my signature. How do I achieve that?

Damn!
I had a long reply typed and tbird crashed before I hit send. Bottom line, if
you have set your normal signature in Settings -> kmail -> identities -> modify
-> signature (without including any '-- ' in the box), and check Settings
->
kmail -> compose -> [x] insert signature, then you will get a consistent
signature on new mail and replies. Using ctrl+n for new or 'r' for reply, the
address in the 'To' field depends on what was in the original message header.
Generally the 'From:' is used unless a 'Reply-To:' is present, then that
is used.
You can look at the original header with View -> Headers -> All Headers
If you are using custom templates and have inserted special commands from the
template dialog, if they are the type of fields that can vary from message to
message, your results may vary.
Regardless, kmail must have an address either from the original message, your
address book, or possibly an address you put in a custom template. I've never
really used custom templates finding that the defaults served 99.9% of my
purposes. If you put 'tde' with the trinity-devel address in your addressbook
then all you type is 'td' and it will autofill. If you define a custom template,
then you should be able to define a default 'To' address being the list address,
but since this list already includes a 'Reply-To', your only need for it would
be on new messages, since by default, replies will autofill with 'Reply-To'.
You can work with the Templates, but for the list, a simple entry in the
addressbook is probably the quickest and easiest :)
