What do you think about the creation of overlay for Gentoo?
I am unable to work on such an overlay myself, as I am already responsible for both Debian and Ubuntu, but if you want to try your hand at it that would be much appreciated!

Actually I'm kde-sunset maintainer too and I start to create ebuilds which will be commited to kde-sunset overlay when I will finish to convert build system to cmake. Until then maybe Ladislav Laska will succeed to update kde-sunset to kde 3.5.12.

Maybe it would be a good idea for those interested in maintaining a Gentoo ebuild to join forces; it would be relatively easy to divide up the maintenance work between developers through sections such as core, artwork, common applications, etc. When at least the core ebuilds are complete I can post a link to your installation instructions on the project home page.
This way all the work won't fall on one person's shoulders. I know what that is like from experience. ;-)
Also, all developers are free to use the Wiki to collaborate when working on packaging Trinity for a new distribution. Just let me know when you have created an account there and I will grant write access to the Wiki.

I thought about overlay to build Trinity from svn, but not for a specific version.

My ebuilds will be always in sync with trinity's SVN, because I'm trinity developer too :)

If work on the overlay is already under way, I do not make sense to create another overlay. How may I help you?

At this point, you cannot help me (unless you want help me to migrate kdelibs from autotools to cmake). When kdelibs will be done, I will need a lot testing and bug-hunting.
unfortunately I do not understand the cmake, but I'm ready to learn

Hello,
I don't think there is currently an overlay for .11, but when .12 will be out, we will probably be working on in at kde-sunset. If we decide not to, we will create one overlay. If you want to help, join us at gentoo-desktop list.

I guess that more apropriate name for kde3 overlay will be kde3-resurrection :)
