Hi all, I was listening in on the last irc meeting and caught an aftermeeting mentioning about bad Qt4 performance. I offered an article and a possible workaround I found recently, in case people are not aware of it, and was asked to bring it to attention to other developers also, so here goes: I'm suffering bad graphical performance in Qt4 and PyQt4 applications and searched for solutions. I found a post on nokia.com [1] that mentions a command line switch that might help. In short: adding "-graphicssystem raster" to my Qt4 applications' command line improved performance drastically for me. There's also a method to set it programmatically, and an environment variable [2]. Editing MNG files

In tdebase/kicker/data/kickoff, are image files that need branding updates: kmenu_active.png kmenu_basic.mng kmenu_flipped.mng kmenu_vertical.mng I updated kmenu_active.png (GIT hash d4e6607ad6a9bfc49f4dfeced379c136704714b1), but the other three are animated (MNG) files that I can't perform mere touch up with kolourpaint. To my knowledge no TDE apps support MNG editing (viewing yes, editing no). The only app I find for that is GIMP and I won't go there. Would somebody with some MNG skills look at updating those three MNG images? To update the logo, you should be able to grab the same from the kmenu_active.png I uploaded to GIT. Thank you ! Darrell

Kicker Crashing

Hi all, Kicker has been crashing on me when I hover the "System" menu on KMenu. It's a Ubuntu 11.10 system, with packages from the sources available on the website. Can anyone reproduce this? I merely installed "kubuntu-desktop-trinity". Also, this meta package should be pulling kpowersave or something that does power management. Best regards, Tiago

More SAK Challenges

When I boot into my virtual machine running TDE in graphical login mode, I am prompted to press Ctrl-Alt-Delete to login. I have UseSAK=false in tdmrc. I have the same identical tdmrc in my physical machine and am not prompted to press Ctrl-Alt-Delete. What is TDM keying off of to generate the SAK prompt despite SAK being disabled? Darrell

amarok - riokarma support is not buildable, it needs to link to karma-sharp.dll - WTF?

All, What is this karma-sharp.'dll' stuff in the amarok cmake files? Isn't .dll m$ only? bug #905 partial fix

Hi all, as reported in bug #905 tdebase cmake file does not check for long long support breaking stuff like memory info module. mlt FTBFS

bugs 910 and 909

Hi all, I was looking into bug 909 and 910. Basically the wheel scroll action is built into KDEUI and it is hard coded. relevant files are: tdelibs/tdeui/ktabbar.cpp tdelibs/tdeui/ktabwidget.cpp What is a solution, a global configuration option? or can we intercept/disconnect/handle the signal so it doesn't go to ktabbar?
