PyTQt ... kind of a workround to get it working
by Dr. Nikolaus Klepp 12 Jul '26

12 Jul '26

Hi all, I kind of figured out how to get PyTQt working: The problem is this: $ python3 -c "from PyTQt import tqt; print('SUCCESS:', dir(tqt)[:5])" Traceback (most recent call last): File "<string>", line 1, in <module> from PyTQt import tqt; print('SUCCESS:', dir(tqt)[:5]) ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/PyTQt/__init__.py", line 52, in <module> from PyTQt import * ImportError: /usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/PyTQt/tqt.cpython-314-x86_64-linux-gnu.so: undefined symbol: _ZN7TQMutex6lockedEv The workaround that my AI helper found is this wrapper: // tqtmutex_wrapper.cpp // Wrapper for TQMutex::locked() ABI mismatch in python3-pytqt // // Problem: PyTQt expects _ZN7TQMutex6lockedEv (non-const member) // libtqt3-mt only exports _ZNK7TQMutex6lockedEv (const member) // // Fix: Provide a wrapper that delegates the non-const call to the const version // // Compile: // g++ -shared -fPIC -o libtqtmutex_wrapper.so tqtmutex_wrapper.cpp // extern "C" { // Forward declare the const version that exists in libtqt3-mt.so.3 bool _ZNK7TQMutex6lockedEv(void* this_ptr); // Provide the non-const version that PyTQt expects bool _ZN7TQMutex6lockedEv(void* this_ptr) { return _ZNK7TQMutex6lockedEv(this_ptr); } } With this wrapper I can run any of the exaples from "pytqt-doc" like this: $ LD_PRELOAD=./libtqtmutex_wrapper.so python3 /usr/share/doc/pytqt-doc/examples/tut1.py So my question here is: how can this be fixed the propper way? Patch to remove non-existing icon positions in ~/.trinity/share/apps/kdesktop/IconPositions
by Dr. Nikolaus Klepp 17 Jun '26

17 Jun '26

Hi all, This is a simple patch against .trinity/share/apps/kdesktop/IconPositions growing indefinitly. Mine was almost 500MB and contained stuff from the last decades - so not very useful, but TDE has no way to clean this file. The patch goes against kdesktop/kdiconview.cpp. It changes the baviour to only save icon positions when the file/directory acually exists on the desktop. AUR Attack Contains htdig, Could be Concern?
by Shauna Recto 15 Jun '26

15 Jun '26

Hi, There has been an attack in regards to the AUR. https://archlinux.org/news/active-aur-malicious-packages-incident/ There has been a list of all the packages affected. https://lists.archlinux.org/archives/list/aur-general@lists.archlinux.org/m… I don't know how you build the htdig package, but it was listed when I was checking for malicious packages. I just don't know if your package you provide would be affected by it, even though I would assume none of you use the AUR to build it. Regards, Shauna

Today I added the TDE repos for 10 prior to beginning today's upgrade from the 8 Feb. state. Heads up on vim-9.2.0388 -> 9.2.0437 changes to term.c causing issues for konsole
by David C Rankin 08 May '26

08 May '26

TDE Devs, All, There is an issue I've run into with Arch and the update of vim-9.2.0388 to vim-9.2.0437 that causes control codes "pp" to be shown in the vim window on the remote Arch host when accessed over ssh from my openSUSE KDE3/konsole (and from the Arch mailing list there are other terminals affected as well, such as one terminal on the RaspberryPi 5) The terminal control codes provided by my terminal (as returned by v:termresponse in vim) are ^[[>0;115;0c which is also the same provided by the RaspberryPi 5 terminal reported on the Arch list. There were no issue with vim up through vim-9.2.0388, but whatever the changes between that version and the new vim-9.2.0437 have caused the vim builtin xterm type to no longer play nicely with some older terminals. If TDE hasn't patched or updated the konsole code in tdebase, then I would expect TDE/konsole to be impacted as well, thus this heads up so it can be looked into. If somebody running TDE also has an Arch box around, they can test/confirm this by: 1 open konsole, 2 ssh into the Arch box, 3 vim foo If you see "pp" overlayed at the cursor position (first chars of a new file, or where the cursor is placed in an existing file), then TDE is impacted by this as well. 4 while still in vim, you can confirm the terminal response code by typing: 5 :echo v:termresponse (it will be shown bottom left over the command line) We have a issue open with upstream, https://github.com/vim/vim/issues/20140 and we are working through patch ideas, etc. So the purpose of this post was to provide a heads-up to TDE, and, of course, if you have a silver-bullet that solves this, I'll take that too :) -- David C.
