Hi,
Some months ago, a discussion about finding a new mascot for TDE has bee going on.
Recently, I bought an HP 620lx
palmtop (er, Handheld PC, for non-Psion users) and I installed Jornada Linux Mobility
Edition, available at
jlime.com
I thought that a modified version of their logo could be interesting as a TDE mascot, but
I am not sure about the
legal aspect of it. Also, what is you opinion on it? I made a quick mockup of what it
could be.
Have a great Christmas time!

Personally I support the idea of a new KDE-unrelated mascot for TDE. I know E.
doesn't, so it is a matter of opinions.
I guess we would at least need to see what Tim and Slavek (and possibly other users)
think.
I'm cautiously in favour of a change, actually--Konqui is definitely a branding
problem.
Plus, I haven't been able to get a clear picture of his trademark status from
available
documents, so he might be a legal problem (even though none of the KDE people have
called us on it yet).
As for what mascot, although the tux_tde_gradient.png
looks nice, I would prefer an "original" mascot, something
designed by us, not something made up from another distro/DE. Otherwise we would just
move from a KDE-related mascot
to another project-related mascot.
Agree on this. We'd just be opening ourselves up to the same problems that already
exist with Konqui.
