Hi,
I made a new splash screen for TDE, and I wonder if it could be added to the list of available splash screens.
I named it Architecture, and it is not designed to be everyone's taste, because it looks more like what is available for KDE Plasma 5.
System requirement:
-Widescreen monitor (will work on classic monitor, but may look distorded)
-TDE R14.0.2 or newer
-You may use File-Roller to extract it
Have a great day!

Hi,
I think that the release plans for TDE are probably to rethink, or to do in another way.
As an example, most projects have their users use the stable releases, but in TDE, as R14.0.0 was not 100% up to what users expect, many of those switched up to Slavek's preliminary stable builds. This is not bad in itself to use unstable versions for testing purposes, but I do not think that it is the best idea to use it on a production system.
Also, as it is the case now, R14.0.2 is not said to be released, but you can see users complaining (with reasons) that it is very slow to update to R14.0.2., mostly because mirrors are not yet in sync with the main server.
I don't know enough about how software repos work, but I think that the new release should be blocked for a moment and then be available to users only when everything is ready and in sync on mirrors.
This would allow:
1. A more consistent release plan
2.Stop having to deal with users saying that they get kind-of error 404, or ultra slow download speed
3.Reduce Tim's bandwidth costs and load on its servers
What do you think?
Have a great day!

Hi all!
After deaktivating KHotKeys daemon, the keybord shortcuts configured in kate work almost everywhere. "Almost", because kmail ignores the custom defined shortcuts:
These two are accepted by kmail (defined in .trinity/share/config/kdeglobals):
"Undo" -> <Ctrl>+Z
"Redo" -> <Shift>+<Ctrl>+Z
This one is ignored by kmail (defined in .trinity/share/config/katerc and .trinity/share/config/kwriterc):
"delete line" -> <Ctrl>+Y
Kmail uses the "extended editor component" - I think it's the same as kate and kwrite use.
Funny thing is, the "default" settings are accepted, that is kmail accepts these:
"split line" -> <Ctrl>+Y
"delete line" -> <Ctrl>+K
Any ideas?

Hi all!
I have these keybindings defined in .trinity/share/config/kdeglobals:
[Shortcuts]
Redo=Ctrl+Shift+Z
Undo=Ctrl+Z
And I have these keybindings defined in .trinity/share/config/katerc:
[Katepart Shortcuts]
backspace=Backspace;Shift+Backspace
delete_line=Ctrl+Y
So I assume, <Ctrl>+Y deletes a line in kate. But it doesn't, it perfoms "Undo" instead. This only affects TDE applictions (kmail, kwrite, kate ...) but all others are unaffeted. For example "geany" behaves is configured the same way (<Ctrl>+Z = undo, <Ctrl>+Y = delete line)
There is no match for "Ctrl+Y" neither in /etc/trinity nor /opt/trinity/etc/.
So ... did I miss something? Or is "Ctrl+Y" hardcoded somewhere to be "Undo"?

Hello !
I would like to understand how keyboard layouts are switched by the
Trinity. More precise:
1) what happening when user clicks on the flag icon? Some external
program called or some TDE process communicates with X-server (and
how)?
2) what part of Trinity source code do I have to read to understand it?
3) is it possible to send some D-Bus message (or something similar) to
emulate user's click on flag icon and/or select particular language
from the list of available keyboard layouts?
4) the same as #3, but vice versa: can an external program ask TDE
"what keyboard do we have right now"?
5) If answer to #3 is "NO", is there any chance for a patch doing it
to be included into TDE ?
6) What is the situation with questions #3 & #4 in the "mainstream
window managers" (like KDE, Gnome) nowadays ?
Cheers,
Ilya D.
It has been a month since I asked how to turn off the R14 update error
dialog boxes, that appear on boot up, with no response--that I recieved
anyway. The post was on Sept 30th.
Since the post did appear on the list, should I take no response to mean
that no one knows how?
All I really need to know is where that file is being run from, which I
haven't been able to find with grep. I can figure out the rest myself.

Hello,
AFAIK, we still have to find a convenient system to allow contributors
to update the Trinity translations (tde-i18n).
I've found a free software that looks promising to me:
https://weblate.org/
Has anyone experienced it before ?
François
Hi,
This morning I had some time to play with Gimp, and I made a new splash for amaroK.
It is based on a few KFaenza and Masalla 0.8 (0.8 is now gpl, by the way) icons.
Tell me what you think, and if someone is interested in seeing it replace the old one.
Have a great day!
