Hi all,
I just wanted to share that I found a new icon theme that is fitting and working very well with TDE. Icons are colorful and easy to understand. Maybe one day it could be packaged with TDE?
Here is the download link:

Thank you! Tell me what you think!

I had errors when updating to R14.0.1 from the R14.0 version of trinity.
In: r14-xdg-update-validation-test9.txt
_____________________________________________________
The following files were listed as not being updated:
kde-fsview.desktop
kde-kchmviewer.desktop
kde-kmag.desktop
kde-ksystemlog.desktop
The above DID EXIST in the directories below:
~/.local/share/applications/kde-fsview.desktop
~/.local/share/applications/kde-kchmviewer.desktop
~/.local/share/applications/kde-kmag.desktop
~/.local/share/applications/kde-ksystemlog.desktop
They ALSO EXISTED under DIFFERENT names here:
/opt/trinity/share/applnk/.hidden/fsview.desktop
/opt/trinity/share/applnk/Applications/kmag.desktop
/opt/trinity/share/applnk/kchmviewer.desktop
/opt/trinity/share/applications/tde/ksystemlog.desktop
/opt/trinity/share/applnk/Utilities/ksystemlog.desktop
__________________________________________________________
The following files were also listed as not being updated. I searched, and
none of the above files existed anywhere on the hard drive:
kde-kmousetool.desktop
kde-kmouth.desktop
kde-ksensors.desktop
kde-superkaramba.desktop
Installed all of the above, and changed a setting but no *.desktop file was
created when I did.
All the above desktop files did exist on the hard drive but under a
DIFFERENT name:
/opt/trinity/share/applnk/Applications/kmousetool.desktop
/opt/trinity/share/applnk/Applications/kmouth.desktop
/opt/trinity/share/applnk/System/ksensors.desktop
/opt/trinity/share/applnk/Utilities/superkaramba.desktop
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It looks like the problem is naming errors in the update script, and
possibly install scripts as well--since the *.desktop files were not
created when installed--nor when started, used and changed.
What should I do now?
1 - How do I turn off the R14 update error dialog boxes that appear on boot
up?
2 - Should I post this as a bug? It is a script problem (I think) not a
Trinity problem.
BTW Everyone, Thanks for a very good job on creating R14 and the update.
Just a few hours ago I did a fresh Jessie install followed apparently only by
most of an R14 install. Now that I figured out there's a menu edit function
in the menu even though there is no menu editing package installed, and
kmenuedit-trinity needs to be installed, apt/aptitude can't reach
pearsoncomputing.net, or apparently any other mirror. So I opened
http://tde-mirror.yosemite.net/trinity/trinity-r14.0.0/debian/pool/main/k/ in
browser to try to download and install it manually, only to find there is no
such package as kmenuedit-trinity, at least, not on this particular mirror.
Is something critical in process of being rebuilt, and I just timed my
activity terribly yet again?
Is there a howto somewhere how to fix a broken menu manually, moving lost &
found seamonkey and firefox entries where they belong (in internet browsers)?
Hi all,
on knowledge is given, we prepared together with Tim read-only mirror of the
git repositories. Links for git repositories on the website now go to the
mirror. Your local git clones you can redirect to the mirror:
http://mirror.git.trinitydesktop.org/cgit/
CGIT interface on the primary server remains available at the original
address - in the menu is given as Secure GIT (allows access through SSL).
On the mirror is also available list of patches - commit history, which is
maintained in sync with mirror of git repositories:
http://mirror.git.trinitydesktop.org/patches/
Enjoy the new speed of CGIT interface :)
Tim, Slavek, Darrell, All, (whoever is left?)
I've checked from time to time to see if
http://bugs.pearsoncomputing.net/show_bug.cgi?id=1998 has been resolved to crank
up my Arch build system again. When we left, the problem was TDE did not provide
user session tracking or a multi-seat implementation for a pure-systemd
environment (without ConsoleKit).
This resulted in applications being launched, but never terminated after they
had been closed by the user.
Can anyone confirm correct behavior of TDE in a pure-systemd setting w/o
ConsoleKit? Even without multi-seat, it is worth building TDE if the issue
described in bug 1998 has been resolved.
What says the brain trust?
Forwarding here to get other developer input on this. There is a
long-standing issue with TDE and certain old X11 applications that try to
read the xrdb color control file. Before I spend time figuring out the
proper way to fix this issue, has anyone else already debugged this and/or
come up with a proposed fix for TDE itself?
Thanks!
Hi Gene!
you may want to add this line on your remote machines .bashrc:
xrdb -all -query|sed -e '\''s#[A-Z_]*BACKGROUND# gray90#'\'' -e
'\''s#[A-Z_]*FOREGROUND# Black#'\'' -e '\''s#[A-Z_]*HIGHLIGHT#White#'\''
- -e '\''s#[A-Z_]*LOWLIGHT# Black#'\''|xrdb -merge;
This has to go in one line. It's just the part of the "alias"-line I sent
you ages ago to make linuxcnc work on TDE :-) This is the line as an
alias:
alias linuxcnc='xrdb -all -query|sed -e '\''s#[A-Z_]*BACKGROUND#
gray90#'\'' -e '\''s#[A-Z_]*FOREGROUND# Black#'\'' -e
'\''s#[A-Z_]*HIGHLIGHT# White#'\'' -e '\''s#[A-Z_]*LOWLIGHT#
Black#'\''|xrdb -merge; linuxcnc'
Again, just one line :-)
If you have a somewhat static IP address, and need access to the nightly
builds for development work, please let me know and I'll grant access.
Having general public access to that repository was simply generating too
much traffic for the current Internet link.
Most times in recent months when I've needed to access TDE repos for
openSUSE, the package manager has claimed the server is inaccessible, so I
scrapped the idea of either installing or upgrading TDE at those times. Today:
# zypper ref
...
Retrieving repository 'Packman' metadata
.....................................................................................[done]
Building repository 'Packman' cache
..........................................................................................[done]
File '/repodata/repomd.xml' not found on medium
'http://ppa.quickbuild.pearsoncomputing.net/trinity/trinity/rpm/opensuse13.2…'
Abort, retry, ignore? [a/r/i/? shows all options] (a):
This was the content of my last configured TDE.repo file on 13.2 host gx780
running r14.0.0 (likely non-working when previously tried):
[TDE]
enabled=1
autorefresh=1
baseurl=http://ppa.quickbuild.pearsoncomputing.net/trinity/trinity/rpm/open…
type=yum
It was initially created by following the instructions on
https://wiki.trinitydesktop.org/OpenSUSEInstall. Changing types today to i586
and rpm-md got it working. That page's instructions include uname -i, which
results in the non-functional string i386 in the baseurl.
I know it's a wiki, but what to change the instructions to say instead I
don't know. This is the content of my currently working TDE.repo and
TDEnoarch files:
****
[TDE]
autorefresh=1
baseurl=http://ppa.quickbuild.pearsoncomputing.net/trinity/trinity/rpm/open…
enabled=1
gpgcheck=0
keeppackages=0
name=TDE
type=rpm-md
****
[TDEnoarch]
autorefresh=1
baseurl=http://ppa.quickbuild.pearsoncomputing.net/trinity/trinity/rpm/open…
enabled=1
gpgcheck=0
keeppackages=0
name=TDEnoarch
type=rpm-md
****
Configuring repos in openSUSE can be as simple as copying those files into or
out of /etc/zypp/repos.d/, or changing names of files there, or editing their
content with plain text editor, all of which I prefer to zypper ar/rr or
managing via YaST2.
Hi all,
By looking at the Linux news feeds in Akregator, I saw no news about the release of TDE R14.0.1.
I would like to know if anyone has contacted them to let them know about the new release?
Is is important, because it might bring new devs, more users and possibly more donations too.
Have a great day!
All,
Just wanted to let you know that the x86 builders are down while I try to
free up some additional disk space. Other architectures are still
building normally.
The build farm needs a disk space upgrade to handle additional
distributions (e.g. Debian Stretch) but I am not able to personally fund
one at this time. Help in the form of donations toward TDE's
infrastructure costs is appreciated as always. :-)
Thanks!
