No, there shouldn't be a need and I wonder if this is part of the reason you ran into problems. I have been using the exact same scripts daily for 10+ years, so they have been fairly tested. Of course, they are not perfect and they have evolved over time, but the core of the building part has been pretty much the same for a long time, so they should work pretty much out of the box.
